Torah portion Pekudei:. Exodus 38:21-40:38
Pekudei is Hebrew for “countings.”
This Torah portion provides an inventory of the raw materials that the Children of Israel donated for the tabernacle: Gold: 29 talents and 730 shekels (a talent = 3,000 shekels); Silver: 100 talents and 1,775 shekels. The materials used for the priestly garments are listed. With the completion of all the elements for the Tabernacle, Moses blessed the people. YHVH instructs Moses to set up the tabernacle and anoint it, then dress Aaron and his sons, wash and dress them, and anoint them. On the first day of the first month in the second year of their departure from Egypt, Moses had the tabernacle erected, along with the utensils. When the task was completed, the Glory of YHVH filled the tabernacle.
