Torah portion Va'yakhel: Exodus 35:1-38:20
Va’yakhel is Hebrew for “And he assembled”
Summary of Va’yakhel. Moses repeats to the assembled to observe the Sabbath and do no work; the one specific example is to not kindle fire. Much of this Torah portion is a repetition of Terumah, listing the raw materials for the Tabernacle that the people may donate voluntarily. Men and women donated their precious metals and animal skins. The two named artisans, Bezalel and Oholiab headed the teams that built the tabernacle and its utensils, the ark of the covenant, the show bread table, the menorah, the altars, etc.
